As I was a mom with one child at my side and other children in the cradle, I worked 12 hours a day sanding flooring and tearing off wallpaper. Ha! The house was starting to look nice, but there were still many things that needed to be left. For this project I had planned to invest a significant amount of time and money shopping for my dream home. In order to stay in the realm of budgets, I took to by taking my sons to estate sales looking for of diamonds. It was a weekly tradition that we would go through estate and garage sales on Thursdays and Saturdays buying a mixture of new and old pieces. I then spent the rest of my time painting and sanding outside in our driveway. My passion for restoration of furniture began when I saw a style like this. It didn't matter if our house had already been furnished. I also had a booth at the market, where I would sell objects. In the end, I had lots of pieces, I didn't know what to do and my storage space was a mess. Over 1000 people visited my home in just one weekend to purchase all the things on the ground. Growing Days was founded in my house. Growing Days was more than an extremely successful company, it was as well my family. It was essential to find the right balance to me. I wanted to be both a mom as well as a business owner who was successful. Growing Days fit perfectly. My daughter Nora became our fourth daughter. I was thrilled with where my company was going, but I wanted a break. I decided to slow down to spend time at home, with my children. This was just what I was looking for. However, after just a couple of minutes, my phone began to ring. People contacted me asking to help them with the interior design and renovations of their home. Most of them were people who came into my residence at my open house for furniture. Once I had a few months I started taking on clients in my own way. Soon I had multiple accounts, as well as a house renovations business. If you'd told me that my company would become the basis for a DIY Network show, I would probably have been astonished. It's hilarious to look back to the idea.
