Richard B. Cheney, distinguished businessman and public servant is vice president. Cheney is well-known within Washington politics has worked with four presidents of the United States. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush picked Cheney as his running mate for vice president in July of 2000 with a reference to his expertise and wisdom. Dick Cheney has served our nation as the chief of staff to a president as well as in the United States Congress as well as [served] as secretary of defense. He is someone with integrity with the respect of both Republicans as well as Democrats. Cheney said that his role as an adviser to Bush's administration is to be a quiet but reliable advisor. Cheney stated that, when he decided to accept the Republican nomination to vice-president, he looked forward to working alongside President Bush who could work with a wide range of political parties and also with rival political parties and in good faith, with common goals. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941 the son of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He moved into Casper, Wyoming with his family in the year 13 when he turned thirteen. His father, who was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture headed the soil conservation district in Casper.
